Living Room

I’ve always wanted to design a room around this mountain field in Colorado.

My current vision for the living area is to paint it a soft sage green. In the photos above, the green walls would be the ones with the TV, mirror and corner by the kitchen. The kitchen area has pale green tiles on the wall between the counter and cupboard. The floor is a nice dark, diagonal hardwood. Eventually there will be a baby grand piano in the corner which is a dark walnut. I’ll also add some kind of rug. All of the furniture in these photos is gone except for the gray couch which is staying. I’ll probably put something where the mirror is but otherwise there’s not a lot of additional wallspace for art in this room.

Murals & Patterns

The wall where you see the plant in a blue pot seems like the ideal spot for a painting or paintings by you - possibly continuing down the hall. I’m thinking that wall and the hallway could be a compatible neutral background.

Rather than creating a single mural, I feel like it might better to create a series of panels. It would echo the feeling of the picture frame moulding of pre-war buildings, or a series of windows to an imaginary ouside garden. (I will measure the wall when I visit today to get a sense of scale.)

What I like about the images below: birds and branches, images that seem to go from ground to sky. I like the spacing of these paintings: busy but with breathing space. These are a bit peacock heavy - I’m game for whatever birds might find themselves perching in the boughs!
In terms of colors, I would just want something that plays nicely with the sage green and neutrals above but I’m not concerned about it being too matchy matchy.

Bedroom

The bedroom will probably be shades of blue with bits of khaki and cranberry. I may do one wall with subtle or bold wallpaper like the one above and turn the other wall into a gallery wall.
